bones

From executive producers Barry Josephson (hiding) and Hart Hanson (Joan of Arcadia), comes Bones, an entertaining series inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel, Cold Mountain), a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute, while writes novels as additional activity.

In addition to these activities, law enforcement use of it to help them in some investigations of murders, where human remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition, burned or destroyed and when the usual research methods are completely useless. The specialty of Brennan lies in its ability to uncover clues that may have been left in the skeletal remains of the victim.

Because of this activity, Brennan is often obliged to form a pair with the special FBI agent, Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, Angel), a former sniper in the Navy and distrust of science and scientists when it comes to solving crimes. Booth cree that the key to solving crimes lies in discovering the truth through those who are alive, witnesses and suspects, using the old tactics of investigation. Brennan and Booth are in conflict both professional and personally quite often, so the chemistry between them works only within the last novel by mystery of Brennan.

Brennan is more comfortable with his brilliant colleagues in the medical laboratory of Jeffersonian. Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin), desenfadada and direct, is the best friend of Brennan, and has created a novel way to scrutinize the scene of a crime through a three-dimensional image through computers. The Brennan's assistant, Zack Addy (Eric Millegan), a young prodigy whose IQ is dedicated to completing the many doctorates he has begun. Dr. Jack Hodgins (TJ Thyne, The Grinch), is the "man of vermin", an expert on insects, spores and minerals, but whose hobby conspiracy. The head of Brennan is the imposing Dr. Daniel Goodman (Jonathan Adams, American Dreams) and that provides its services to the FBI.

Bones is a series of court police that comes with humor and emotion to show that humanity behind the scientists who investigate acts of inhumanity that cause horrible crimes in the world.

Many thanks to Joe for letting me know about this interview Emily Deschanel did for Japan Today to promote Bones in Japan. Apparently, she was in Japan recently to talk about Bones because they will just be seeing season 3 begin in October. (How sad that they have to wait so long!!)

Anyway, she talked a bit about the similarities (or lack thereof) between Kathy Reichs' version of Temperance Brennan and Hart Hanson's version. And my favorite quote from the piece is this:

In a television market that's flooded with police procedurals and crime dramas, Deschanel believes that focus on relationships and character development is what has helped “Bones” to stand out from the crowd. In fact, she says that the show could almost be considered a romantic comedy (that just happens to be set in the world of forensics).

I like that description: romantic comedy. It's much more descriptive than the usual “dramatic comedy” or “dramedy”.

Be sure to go to their site to read the entire interview!
